Handmade Brass Bowls from India - $22-$28.50

Handmade Brass Bowls from India – $22-$28.50

At the beginning of each new year, I like to start over. Sweep the floors, organize the closets, set the stage for a beautiful new year and get rid of last year’s dirt. I also love to help my space and wardrobe feel new with a few tricks. In collaboration with Boho Lifestyle, I’ll show you how to make your space feel fresh and new, using what you have at home or adding some new beautiful things to your abode.

Something Soft

Cashmere Poncho - $95

Cashmere Poncho – $95

Being soft and cozy is so important in winter- despite the sunny Napa days, the temperature can drop over 30 degrees in an evening! As a knitter, I have an army of knitted hats and scarves, but nothing beats a warm sumptuous cashmere or alpaca item. Now, I have never been one for a poncho, and there was even a phase in my life where I protested against them, but there is something so satisfying about cozying up in a cashmere poncho, sipping tea and reading a good book. Boho Lifestyle has ponchos that come from a Sherpa named Sherpa in Nepal. The diagonal lines are flattering and sophisticated when paired with a fitted black pant, tall boots and a statement necklace. At $95, it’s an investment piece, but the word on the street is, Nordstrom’s is selling them for $260. As usual, it’s best to shop local- and work directly with a sherpa.

Alpaca - $65, Druzy bracelet - $95

Of course, there’s always an actual fuzzy alpaca, made of alpaca, which is quite cozy, and doubles as a modest centerpiece and conversation starter.

Something Scented

Boho Bliss Essential Oil Blend

Scent is a transformational thing…it can help wake you up, calm you down, or bring a sense of peace to a room depending on the blend of essential oils used. For the new year, I like to use wild orange and lemongrass essential oils and add them to a diffuser in the morning for an invigorating way to start each day. Both are uplifting, mood enhancing, and bring a sense of vibrancy to your life! Boho Lifestyle’s house blend, called Boho Bliss and made by a Napa local, blends lemongrass with lavender, white fir, and cedar. Use it in a diffuser (oil blend and diffuser sold together) for $37, or as a room and body spray for $22. Spray, take a deep breath, repeat.

Something Shiny

Lion's Mane Necklace - $42

Lion’s Mane Necklace – $42

I’ve always been a bit of a raven, collecting shiny sparkly things wherever I go. Lately I have been obsessed with anything rose gold or featuring druzy, a type of stone that looks part geode and part glitter encrusted- a valiant combination of playfulness and glamour. Boho Lifestyle has an array of druzy agate pieces by local designers ($72-95). Try rotating your different pieces of jewelry and displaying your favorites in small boxes on your vanity to remind you how many beautiful things you have, rather than hiding them all away!

Happy new year! Show off your beautiful things, spend some quiet time with your softest warm things, and add a new fragrance to your life. Enjoy!
